From a young age, Dayna, CRNA, was introduced to medicine. Inspired by her mother, a nurse with a PhD in nursing education, she felt a clear calling to help and advocate for patients. When she had the opportunity to shadow a nurse anesthetist, the experience ignited her passion for providing anesthesia.
After nearly 13 years as a CRNA, Dayna decided to purchase land in Belize. This significant life event served as the catalyst for her career change, prompting her to pursue the flexibility of full-time 1099 locum tenens. Dayna’s decision was driven largely by the need to balance her professional responsibilities with personal projects on her new property. The freedom to work when necessary and take extended periods of time in Belize became essential to her lifestyle.
Switching to a 1099 position provided Dayna with an opportunity to create a more personalized work schedule. Initially, she was a bit hesitant about transitioning to new locations and not knowing anyone. However, by maintaining a positive attitude, being authentic, and confidently performing her duties, Dayna quickly adapted to each new practice environment.
Throughout this journey, she learned the importance of setting boundaries and being confident in her skills. This approach helped her effortlessly integrate into new teams, resulting in warm welcomes and a sense of belonging.
With the ability to schedule her time according to personal preferences, Dayna discovered numerous opportunities for personal growth and exploration. While providing anesthesia remained a passion, the newfound freedom also allowed her to pursue other interests and hobbies. This balance fostered a sense of truly fulfilling her purpose, both professionally and personally.
Whether you're considering a career change or just exploring your options, our team is here to help you decide if locum tenens is the right step for you. We’d love to learn how we can support your goals – just like we've done for Dayna. Contact a recruiter today.

As a provider-centric organization, we know that when physicians and APPs are supported, their impact doesn’t just fill a gap, it transforms care for entire communities. This year’s NALTO theme, “Temporary Providers, Permanent Impact,” resonates deeply with us. Because while locum assignments are sometimes measured in weeks or months, the care delivered, and the trust built can span years and touch thousands of lives.
